The Miradouro dos Balcões (Balconies Viewpoint) is one of Madeira's most easily accessible and rewarding viewpoints. A pleasant, almost entirely flat walk along the Levada do Furado leads you directly to a suspended balcony overlooking the Ribeira da Metade valley. From here, you're treated to spectacular panoramic views of the island's central mountain range, including Pico Ruivo and Pico do Arieiro on clear days, as well as the lush forest below. It's also a fantastic spot for birdwatching, as various endemic species can often be seen.
