The Basilica of Saint Francis in Bologna, Italy, is a historic church dating back to the 13th century. Originally founded by the Franciscan friars, it has since been elevated to the status of a Roman Catholic basilica. The church boasts a mix of Romanesque and French Gothic architecture, with a notable interior featuring a nave, two aisles, and high vaults reminiscent of Notre-Dame de Paris. Throughout its history, the basilica has faced periods of desecration and restoration, ultimately returning to its original splendor under the supervision of restoration expert Alfonso Rubbiani in 1919.
