Tucked away in Karijini National Park in WA’s Pilbara, Knox Gorge is a quieter but incredibly scenic gorge that offers dramatic red-rock cliffs, ancient geology, fig trees clinging to canyon walls and beautiful swimming holes.

  • There’s a lookout (Knox Lookout) which is a relatively easy 15-minute return walk (300 m) offering sweeping vistas over the gorge.

  • We highly recommend taking the trail down into Knox Gorge is tougher: a ~2 km return route that involves rock scrambles, steep/uneven ground, and some narrow sections. It takes about 2-3 hours total depending on pace and how much time you spend enjoying the pools and scenery. The photo taken is from at the end of the trail into the gorge. It lights up at midday so try to time your visit accordingly!
