Castle Hill is a must-see landmark in Townsville, Queensland. This 286-meter granite monolith offers panoramic views of the city, Magnetic Island, and the Coral Sea.

The walk up Castle Hill varies depending on the track you choose. The most popular route, the Goat Track, is about 2.6 km one way and usually takes 45–60 minutes to reach the summit for an average walker. It’s fairly steep in sections, so take your time, bring water, and wear good shoes. Other tracks, like the Cudtheringa Track, are a bit easier but still give you those epic panoramic views once you reach the top. For those preferring a more relaxed approach, vehicle access is available.

We recommend walking the goat track at sunrise or sunset for the best views and skipping the heat as it is notoriously hot all year round.
