Blue Holes is a sheltered marine reef area just south of the town of Kalbarri, set within a declared Fish Habitat Protection Area. The feature that gives it its name is a limestone reef system with intertidal and permanently submerged pools (“holes”) that become natural aquaria at low or calm tides.

The reef protects you from big surf, so the waters in the holes are often calm while the ocean beyond can be rough. It's like your in a maze once you jump.

We recommend visiting in the morning, before winds pick up (south-west winds often kick in later) and water clarity is better. Also, a low to mid tide helps in seeing more pools and navigating the reef safely.

It is only a 5 minute drive from the Kalbarri Township too!
