The Uluṟu Base Walk is the ultimate way to experience the full majesty of Uluṟu - a 348 m high, 9.4 km circumference sandstone monolith in Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, Australia’s Red Centre.
Sacred to the Aṉangu Traditional Owners, this UNESCO World Heritage site embodies Tjukurpa (Dreaming) stories of creation ancestors like Kuniya (python) and Liru (snake), etched into caves, waterholes, and rock art along its base.
The 10.6 km loop trail (3.5-4.5 hours) circles the entire rock, offering intimate encounters with its changing textures, colours, and cultural sites, from lush oases to stark desert vistas dotted with desert oaks and wildflowers.
We found it best to begin this walk at sunrise before it gets too busy!
