Thirroul Beach is a classic east-facing suburban beach in the northern Illawarra region, located in the coastal village of Thirroul, just 10km north of Wollongong.

Stretching 1km long with golden sand, it's backed by a wide grassy reserve and low headlands, offering reliable surf from most directions (average waves 1-1.5m) but with limited wind protection.

It's a family favourite for its mix of ocean and calm-water swimming, playgrounds, and picnic spots, though rips make it potentially hazardous for swimmers.
