THIS SQUARE IS SMALL IN SIZE, BUT BIG IN HISTORY!

THIS SQUARE HAS HOSTED GREAT EVENTS AND HOSTS THE SYMBOL OF POLLENCA: THE COCK INCLUDED IN ITS SHIELD.

In ancient times, this square was the home that served for a long time to store and distribute the money and grain that the University (ancestor of the present municipalities) offered to the poorest of the country.

As for the fountain that adorns the Plaza de la Almoina, it was built in 1827 as part of the city’s first public fountain complex. The rooster at the top of the fountain has been the symbol of Pollença since the Middle Ages.

QUESTA PIAZZA HA OSPITATO GRANDI EVENTI ED OSPITA IL SIMBOLO DI POLLENCA: IL GALLO INCLUSO NEL SUO SCUDO.

Anticamente in questa piazza si trovava la casa che servì per lungo tempo a immagazzinare e distribuire il denaro e il grano che l'Università (antenata degli attuali municipi) offriva ai più poveri del paese.

Quanto alla fontana che adorna la Plaza de la Almoina, fu costruita nel 1827 come parte del primo complesso di fontane pubbliche della città. Il gallo situato in cima alla fontana è il simbolo di Pollença fin dal Medioevo.
