What to Pack and Bring

What you pack will depend on when you’re doing this road trip. Summers are mild and warm with random cooler days and evenings. September can be sporadic.

We had several very chilly days where I wore a sweater and beanie, other days were shorts and warm enough for the beach. Pack all for seasons if you’re visiting in September or October.

Of course, hiking clothes if you plan to hike one of the epic trails like Skyline Trail, and a good pair of sneakers. Most trails aren't too intense, but if you prefer lots of foot support or grip then hiking shoes are recommended.

We love Merino wool clothing for trips like this because it's lightweight, warming or cooling, and great for layering. Plus, it doesn’t retain odors. You can shop our favorite products at Unbound Merino here.

Bathing suits are a must if you're coming in summer. We were blown away by Nova Scotia's beaches and given there is more than 13,300 km of coastline you will have a lot of opportunities to enjoy the beach.

What to Bring if You're Driving Your Own RV/Van

  • We used our Lectric e-bikes a lot on this trip. They took us to wineries in Wolfville, to the Halifax ferry, and to the most incredible sunset viewpoint on Cape Breton Island. If you don’t have e-bikes check out Lectric. They’re affordable, have a long range, and pedal assist, are lightweight, and foldable.

  • We also used our inflatable paddle board a ton. We bought our Body Glove inflatable board second-hand on Facebook Marketplace. But this Roc inflatable paddle board is comparable in quality, reviews and size on Amazon.
