The tiny town of Hólar is nowadays known for its university where you can study everything about Icelandic horses. But Hólar is also one of the most famous historical sites in Iceland.

You’ll find the oldest stone church of Iceland here. And there’s some turf houses too.

During the last weekend of September one of the biggest horse round ups is held in Laufskálaréttir (just outside of Hólar).
