If you are traveling Iceland clockwise, this will be the first spot where it is going to be pretty busy with tourists. Most people visiting Iceland will not go any further north than this place.

If you are traveling counter clockwise and are planning to visit the rest of the east and north, this will be the busiest place for the next few days.

The fact that it is a bit more busy here, might also be the reason that I am not the biggest fan of this place.

Is it beautiful? Absolutely. Am I a big fan of this place? Not really. But again, this might have more to do with the amount of people than with the location itself. It is absolutely gorgeous, but so are a million other places in Iceland. I think this one is just promoted a lot more than other gorgeous spots. And standing in line to make the same generic photo that has been made a hundred times already is just not my favorite thing.

If you plan it wisely and go here in the evenings /early morning for example you might have the place a bit more to yourself.

And don't forget you also need to pay to park here.
