The photos don't do this place justice. To me this place is a bit out of this world. If there is one place in Iceland where you will start believing in elves, this is it, I think.

You can hike in a circle from the Viking settlement Stöng to Gjáin and back. It is about 2,1 km back and forth. So the walk itself is quite short, but I'm sure you'll spend quite some time just wandering around this place.

Gjáin was also a filming location in Game of Thrones. The scene the Water Dance with Arya and the Hound was filmed there and nothing had to be digitally altered for the series.
