Back in the old days all Icelanders lived in turf houses. Nowadays only a few of these buildings are left and turned into museums.

If you are interested in Icelandic history and culture, you definitely want to see how they used to live back then. So visiting Laufás should be on your list then.

In summertime (1. June - 30. September) they are open daily between 11:00 and 17:00. In winter you can look at it from the outside, but the house is not open.
