Godafoss is one of the most well known waterfalls in the north. It is about a 45 minute drive from Akureyri. The waterfal is very close to the main road, so it is easy to access and perfect for a quick stop.

You ca walk towards the waterfall from both sides. The one on the west side is a little bit shorter to walk, so if you are in a hurry, you might want to choose this side. But if you have enough time, it is definitely worth it, to explore the waterfall from both sides.

In wintertime it can be quite slippery on the short road towards the waterfall, the parking lot and around the waterfall itself. So be aware of this. It also gets very, very old here in wintertime, so make sure you dress well, even though it is just a very short walk towards the waterfall.
