This is a green season walk so if you miss out on snow season, I cannot recommend the Lake Mountain Summit Walk enough. Apart from the first 800 metres up to the Summit at 1433m above sea level, the 4km return circuit is relatively easy, passing alongside four different lookouts and the wildflowers are blooming and look absolutely stunning.
You won’t find trees like this anywhere else either, the landscape here is very unique and the remnants of the devastating 2009 bushfires are still visible 11 years on.
How to get there:
From the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Village Car Park, follow the wide track as it climbs steeply for 200 metres before levelling out to a gentle incline to the summit. Take the dirt track to your right to Marysville lookout and follow it around to Alps Lookout, Sherlocks lookout and then to Taggerty Valley View and then to Gerraty's car park via the summit.
Elise's Tips:
Make sure you pick a clear sunny day to do this hike, specifically because its all about the views you'll see at the 4 lookouts and if it's a foggy day you won't see anything!
