Gould Memorial Drive is an iconic photo spot between Marysville and Buxton, known for the giant poplar trees that line the road and turn a beautiful golden colour during autumn. While it is most popular during autumn, the trees turn bright green in the spring and summer months and are eerily bare in winter.

The trees were originally planted by Lloyd Gould who owned a number of timber mills in the area from the late 1940s to 1990s, as well as most of the land between Marysville and Buxton. Sadly many of these trees were destroyed by the 2009 Bushfires and since the passing of Lloyd and Joy Gould it was renamed the Gould Memorial Drive in memory of their service to the area over many years.

Elise's Tips:

Arrive early in the morning and visit during the week to avoid the crowds. Please be mindful that this is a road where cars usually travel at 100km per hour and respect that this is also a daily commute for locals. Park your car well off the road and be aware of cars driving past! You can still get an instagram worth shot without standing or lying on the road - don't risk your life to take a photo!
