Perched on a hill with sweeping views of Karatsu Bay, this beautiful seaside castle is a local landmark. While the current structure is a modern reconstruction, it offers some of the best panoramic vistas in the area, looking out over the city and the famous Niji-no-Matsubara pine grove. You can take a scenic 20-minute walk from the nearest station and then choose to climb the stone staircase to the top or take a convenient elevator. The castle grounds, part of Maizuru Park, are especially stunning in spring when the cherry blossoms and wisteria are in full bloom.
