There's a secret cave right in Krabi town that most people don't seem to know about that holds both crazy legends and a lot of history. If you visit Krabi in Thailand do not miss this gem!

HOW TO VISIT:
In Krabi town, navigate to the Mangrove Forest by the river called 📍”Mangrove Walkway” on Google Maps. The Mangrove forest itself is so cool to see and takes around 20 min to walk through. At the end you can ask a boat to take you across to the other side. We paid 100 THB/pp and they took us straight back to Krabi town afterwards too.

Once you get off the boat on the other side of the mangrove walkway you’ll find the path to Khao Khanab Nam Cave where they’ve found up to 5000-year old remnants and paintings of prehistoric people. There are also legends that giants roamed these lands in the past. Inspired by one of these legends of a giant battling a serpent to death over a princess, the Taiwanese artist Tu Wei-cheng created a very realistic sculpture depicting the battle in 2017. It's probably the coolest sight in the cave and it really looks so real!

Around the cave there will be signs telling the story of the cave and its previous inhabitants, along with sculptures and prehistoric findings. You can also read the story about the Japanese soldiers that lived in this cave while they occupied Krabi during WWII!

Don't miss the pitch-black cave right next door as well where you will find plenty of bats! Bring a strong flashlight if you’d like to try to see them!
This is definitely not a gem to be missed in Krabi, it was such a cool experience!
