How to move around the city easily
Foodietravellersguide
Malaga, Spain
Málaga is actually a very easy city to get around. If you’re staying anywhere near the historic centre, most of the main sights, restaurants and tapas bars are within walking distance.
Here’s the easiest way to navigate the city.
Walking
The historic centre of Málaga is very compact and walkable. Most of the best tapas bars, restaurants and attractions are within a 10–15 minute walk of each other.
If you’re staying in the centre, you’ll rarely need taxis or public transport.
Buses
Buses are the best option if you want to reach areas outside the centre like Pedregalejo or El Palo, which are great neighbourhoods for beach restaurants and seafood.
The journey usually takes 15–20 minutes and buses run frequently.
Train (Cercanías)
If you’re arriving from the airport, the C1 train line is the easiest way to reach the city. It takes around 12 minutes from Málaga Airport to Málaga Centro-Alameda station.
This train also connects Málaga with nearby coastal towns like Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola.
Taxis & Ride Apps
Taxis are easy to find in Málaga and are reasonably priced. Uber and Bolt also operate in the city if you prefer using ride apps.
For short journeys around the centre though, walking is usually quicker.
