Malga Brenta Alta – One of My Absolute Top Spots in the Dolomites
This hike was absolutely amazing – I truly loved every part of it. After about 15 minutes, you reach Malga Brenta Bassa, which already offers an incredible view of the surrounding mountains. From there, the trail follows a wide forest road along a beautiful river before transitioning into a steeper hiking path.
Once you reach Malga Brenta Alta, you're rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of dramatic peaks and wide alpine meadows. It’s one of those spots that makes you stop and just soak it all in.
Interestingly, it seems like you can even spend the night there – we found a mattress and some camping stoves inside the little hut. Definitely nothing fancy 😄, but if a storm rolls in, it’s a solid place to take shelter.
There’s also a barbecue grill just outside, making it a great place for a scenic picnic. Just please make sure to carry out all your trash and leave the place as beautiful as you found it.
Next to the hut, a river flows down from Laghetto del Brenta. We continued hiking to this little mountain lake – and the views along the way were just epic: the river in the foreground, the mountains behind... pure alpine magic.
Unfortunately, some heavy clouds rolled in not long after we arrived, so the peaks stayed hidden for most of the time. But honestly, it didn’t matter – this place left such a deep impression on me.
The full hike is around 8.5 km round trip and takes about 4 hours. But I’d definitely recommend planning more time, because there are so many beautiful corners to stop, rest, and just enjoy.
100% one of my favorite spots in the Dolomites – and I’ll definitely be back.
