Lago di Saoseo is one of my favorite spots in the Engadin and was high on my photography bucket list. It’s especially stunning in autumn, when the surrounding trees and mountains reflect beautiful colors in the water. To reach the lake, you can either hike about two hours each way or take the Postbus for one or both directions — just make sure to book it in advance. I visited the lake at sunset and stayed to enjoy the colors before hiking back in the dark, which made for a truly memorable experience. There are plenty of photographic opportunities here: wide landscapes, reflections, and even portrait spots with the lake and mountains as a backdrop. It’s a place that’s worth the effort, no matter which way you approach it.
