Getting Around Dubai

One of the first things you should do when you land in Dubai is download Careem. It makes getting around so much easier and, most importantly, helps you avoid overpaying.

Careem is basically Dubai’s go to taxi app and it’s what I use every single time. It’s quick, reliable, and you don’t need to worry about hailing taxis on the street or figuring out prices.

When you open the app, you’ll see a few booking options, this is where people get confused, but it’s actually really simple:

• Hala Taxi – this is the one you’ll use most. It’s the most budget-friendly option, uses Dubai’s official RTA taxis, and is usually the cheapest way to get around.

• Comfort – slightly more expensive, but newer cars and a bit more space. Nice if you’ve had a long day or want something a bit more relaxed.

• Premium options – available too, but honestly not needed unless you specifically want that experience.

The prices are clear before you book, the cars arrive quickly, and it saves so much time compared to waiting around or guessing fares. Dubai is very spread out, so taxis are a big part of getting around, using Careem just makes the whole thing stress free.

Top tip: Download and set up the app before you arrive so you’re not messing around at the airport.
