California’s most remote and wild coastline boasts 75 Miles of black sand beaches, coastal Forests, and an abandoned lighthouse. It's steep terrain and challenging geography have kept it largely free from development, highways, and major roads—so much so that State Route 1 detours inland to avoid the area entirely.
Adventurous hikers and backpackers can tackle the epic 25-mile trek exploring California's wild and unspoiled landscapes.
I wouldn't attempt this drive during the rainy seasons due to most of the trail being impassable. High tides are something to always be considerate of when exploring the rugged beaches.
