Grafarkirkja, also known as the Chapel at Gröf, is Iceland's oldest turf church. It dates back to the 17th century and is a true gem of Icelandic history. This little church used to be made of turf, just like the houses in olden times. Can you imagine that? Now it's one of the few remaining turf churches in Iceland. Unfortunately, it's closed to the public for preservation purposes, but you can still admire its beauty from the outside. The church is surrounded by a circular turf wall, which adds to its unique charm. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in North Iceland!
