Worth a visit if you're in the area, but honestly I wouldn't revolve your plans around it as it's quite out of the way and small. From memory, it didn't require a parks pass.

Carnarvon National Park, located in Central Queensland, is known for its dramatic sandstone cliffs, diverse flora and fauna, and rich Aboriginal cultural heritage. The park encompasses several sections, with Carnarvon Gorge being the most popular.

Mum and I recommend the below:

  1. Carnarvon Gorge: This central feature of the park offers a variety of walking tracks that lead you through its stunning landscapes, including lush side gorges and Aboriginal rock art sites. The main gorge is lined with diverse plant and animal species, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

  2. Moss Garden: Accessible via a 7km return walk from the main track, the Moss Garden is a tranquil spot where water drips from sandstone walls, nourishing a lush carpet of mosses, ferns, and liverworts. A small waterfall adds to the serene atmosphere, making it a favourite among hikers.
