Kathleen Lake, located in Yukon, Canada, is a breathtakingly beautiful and tranquil lake situated within Kluane National Park and Reserve. It is especially noteworthy for its exceptionally clear waters and the presence of kokanee salmon, which are a landlocked population of sockeye living solely in freshwater bodies. This lake is also home to a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, such as day-use areas, boat launches, campgrounds, and hiking trails. The most popular trail is the 3.1 mile ascent to King's Throne, an awe-inspiring natural amphitheater overlooking the lake with stunning 360-degree vistas. Visitors of Kathleen Lake come for the gorgeous views and leave feeling reborn.

Eryn's Tips:

  • This lake is amazing to visit in both the winter and the summer months! In the winter you can walk out onto the lake or take a skidoo out to explore. In the summer you can kayak or canoe, camp at the campground, or walk along the walking path along the right side of the lake!

  • As Kluane National Park is a Canadian National Park, you can find the classic red national park chairs here to the right side at the end of the boardwalk :)

  • The campground is located away from the lake and it does take a few minutes to make it down to the lake from camp.

  • There is a meeting area that is covered and has a wood stove and picnic tables. You can use this unless there is some sort of event going on and it's a great place to eat lunch and get inside to relax.
