Leutschachhütte is a perfect destination for anyone looking to get away and explore all kanton Uri has to offer. This hut is one of my favourite since it is hidden in between the mountains with a beautiful alpine lake behind it.

HIKE DETAILS:

Start: From Intschi take the cable car to Arise. From here follow the sign towards Tori where the hike begins towards Nidersee, the lake behind the hut. You will be hiking in a valley with endless views around. Once you reach Nidersee only a few meters and you will get to the hut. The hike takes approximately 2,5 hours with 850 meters of elevation gain.

From the hut you can decide to hike back the same way or continue your hike towards Sunnigrathütte. If you do, you will end up doing 14 km with 1189 meters of elevation gain but with the best views.

You will end up back to Arise where you started.

Absolutely beautiful hike, I highly recommend it.

In summer keep an eye open there are few lamas roam free in the valley, hiding between the cows. :)
