I've included this as a wonderful place to see an incredible frozen waterfall in winter. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, you might need to use snow shoes for this short walk. There is a rental place right next to the parking-best to confirm the hours to ensure they are open. However, if the snow is packed you should be able to access in snow boots. This is a great activity to do when it hasn't been snowing for a few days and you want a break from the mediocre ski conditions.

Zengoro Falls, located in the Norikura Highlands of Nagano, Japan, is a charming waterfall named after a local lumberjack who had a wild encounter with a fish. The 30-meter-tall cascade offers a picturesque backdrop of Mt. Norikura and can be accessed via a scenic 1km round-trip hike. Keep an eye out for bears along the trail and don't forget to enjoy the colorful foliage in the fall!

Take extra extra care when walking close to the falls as the ground can be unstable!
