Playa Isla Escondida – A Quiet Spot to See Elephant Seals
Tucked away along the coast of Península Valdés, Playa Escondida lives up to its name—“Hidden Beach.” Far from the crowds, this peaceful spot offers the chance to observe southern elephant seals in a more intimate, natural setting.
These massive marine mammals often rest on the shore, especially during the breeding and molting seasons. You’ll see them lounging on the sand, occasionally stretching, grunting, or playfully splashing in the shallow water.
Access can be tricky, and it’s recommended to go with a guide or tour that knows the terrain. But if you're looking for a quieter, less-touristy encounter with Patagonia’s incredible wildlife, Playa Escondida is a true hidden gem.
