This six-hour journey combines the best of Nuuk Fjord: sailing through spectacular Arctic landscapes, fishing in crystal-clear waters, and dining at one of Greenland’s most remote and beautiful restaurants — Qooqqut Nuan.
A hidden restaurant in the heart of the Nuuk Fjord
One of Nuuk’s hidden gems. Nestled deep in the fjord, Qooqqut is a peaceful valley surrounded by steep mountains and lush summer greenery.
During the summer months, this area becomes a quiet retreat for locals and travelers alike, who come here to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Before reaching the restaurant, we stop at one of our well-known fishing spots. Here, the water runs deep and cold — the perfect habitat for cod and redfish. Redfish can be elusive in Nuuk Fjord, but this is one of the few areas where they thrive. We take turns fishing two or three at a time, lines dropping straight into the clear Arctic water. With a bit of luck, you’ll catch your own dinner — and there’s something incredibly satisfying about that first tug on the line.
From catch to cuisine
After about an hour of fishing, we continue toward Qooqqut. As we approach the bay, the landscape opens up into something that feels almost untouched. The air grows still. The atmosphere here is calm and welcoming — the kind of place that instantly makes you slow down.
When we arrive, one of the restaurant’s staff comes down to meet us and collect your fresh catch. You’re welcome to follow them up the short trail to the restaurant and watch as one of the chefs fillets your fish in the open kitchen — a small but fascinating ritual that connects your catch to the meal that follows.
At Qooqqut Nuan, Greenlandic ingredients meet Thai-inspired cuisine. The restaurant’s signature menu, Fish N’ Dish, transforms your freshly caught fish into three distinct preparations — each highlighting the natural flavor of the Arctic. If you haven’t caught anything, don’t worry — the menu also features delicious local dishes, from reindeer to halibut, all prepared with the same care. Please note that meals and drinks at Qooqqut Nuan are not included in the tour price.
Dinner with a view
While you wait for your food, take a short walk around the area. The view from here is extraordinary.
