Located in the northwest of Kyoto, Kitano Tenmangu is an important shrine, dedicated to the god of knowledge and calligraphy—the renowned Japanese scholar Sugawara no Michizane. Local students often come to the shrine to pray for academic success, rubbing the bronze cows on either side of the tower gate. The shrine is also well-known for its plum orchard that blooms from February to March. Once a month, an exciting flea market called Tenjin-san is held, where visitors can pick up local and specialized items such as vintage kimono and antiques. Whether you're looking for praying for good luck or bargain shopping, Kitano Tenmangu could be just the place for you!

During plum season, if you want to check out the plum grove, you have to pay 1200 yen, while in autumn to enjoy the maple tree garden, you will have to ourchase a ticket of 1000 yen.
