Get ready for one of Madeira's most enchanting walks, the Levada Nova in Ponta do Sol. This trail is a local favorite, offering a perfect mix of lush valleys, dramatic cliffs, and the unique experience of walking behind a cascading waterfall. The path follows the levada, an old irrigation channel, and takes you through a dark, 200-meter tunnel, so be sure to bring a headlamp or use your phone's light. The circular route, often combined with the Levada do Moinho, is about 9 kilometers and takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete with minimal incline. You can start your adventure behind the church in the village of Lombada, where parking is available.
