The path stretches from the Lauterbunnen train station all the way to Stechelberg (6.7 km, about 2 hours), where you can catch a bus back to Lauterbrunnen or the cable car to Mürren. But you can do a shorter version, as described below.
Both pedestrians and bikes can use this path, which starts on a quiet private road before turning into a dirt path along the river.

Shorter version
For most people, I suggest walking from Lauterbrunnen to the Staubbach falls (about 15 mins).
Then continue to the Trümmelbach falls (another 30-40 mins). You must turn left off the main path at this point, following signs to Trümmelbachfälle.
After visiting the falls, you can take a bus back to Lauterbrunnen. Or return to the valley path and keep walking.
Or if you are short on time, just walk 15-20 mins in the valley and back the way you came.
Who will like it
Since this hike is free, with no gondola ride, it’s a good choice for budget travelers.
This trail is particularly suitable for casual walkers and families with small children as there is not much elevation gain and you can walk as little as 1 km and still enjoy spectacular views. We also loved that our little kids could ride their kick scooters, so we could walk further without them getting tired.
We also suggest it for spring (April & May) or late fall (October & November), when mountain trails are covered in snow.
