Jasper SkyTram is one of the best and easiest ways to experience the beauty of the Rockies from above. This scenic aerial tramway whisks you up Whistlers Mountain to an elevation of 2,263 metres, offering panoramic views of the town of Jasper, surrounding mountain ranges, and on clear days, even Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

The ride is short and smooth — about 7 minutes — but incredibly scenic. A knowledgeable guide shares facts about the area’s geology, wildlife, and history. Once at the top station, you’ll find a boardwalk, interpretive displays, and access to the Whistlers Summit Trail — a short but steep hike that takes you even higher (up to 2,463 m) for 360° alpine views and a real “top of the world” feeling.

You don’t have to hike up there if you don't want to, though. The upper station has a restaurant and gift shop, making it a great spot to simply relax, take in the scenery, and snap some incredible photos.

Free parking is available at the Jasper SkyTram base station, just a 10-minute drive from downtown Jasper. There’s also space for RVs, and shuttle service may be available during peak season.

Tickets range start at $75 (for adults) but may vary with season. You can book online in advance (recommended in summer) to secure your time slot. Operating season is mid-March to late October, with earlier dates often offering a snowy summit and later ones showcasing fall colors.

Dress in layers — it’s much cooler and windier at the top, even on sunny days.

Bring binoculars or a zoom lens — mountain goats and other wildlife are often visible from above.

If you’re up for it, the summit trail adds about 1.2 km round trip and is 100% worth the extra climb.
