Get a National Park Pass

If you are heading to more than one national park (you need them for A LOT of places) you are best buying a parks pass. We recommend getting the 2 month if you're visiting two parks or more (think: Tasman NP, Maria Island, South Bruny NP, Freycinet NP, Cradle Mountain NP, Mt. Field NP, etc.). You need to have the number of the pass displayed when in a national park in your front window of the car.

TYPES OF PASSES & PRICES

• Daily Pass - up to 24 hours (Excludes Cradle Mountain entry and shuttle service)

  • Per vehicle (up to 8 people): $47.70

  • Per person (travelling by bus, cycle, or on foot): $23.85

  Icon Daily Pass - Cradle Mountain only (Includes shuttle service)

  • Adults (18 years and over): $29.80

  • Children (5-17 years, under 5 years free of charge): $11.95

  • Family (2 adults, 3 children): $71.60

    Note: Icon Daily Passes cannot be upgraded and are typically purchased at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre.

  Holiday Pass - all Tasmanian national parks for up to 2 months (Excludes Cradle Mountain shuttle service)

  • Per vehicle (up to 8 people): $95.50

  • Per person (travelling by bus, cycle, or on foot): $47.75

  Annual Park Pass - all Tasmanian national parks

  • General: $101.70

  • General - concession: $81.40

  • Seniors (Australian State Government issued Seniors card, excluding Seniors Business Cards): $40.65

    Includes up to two vehicles registered at the pass holder's address. Excludes Cradle Mountain shuttle service.

HOW TO GET THE PASS

1. Online (Recommended):

• Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) website: This is the official and most direct way. You can purchase various pass types (daily, holiday, annual, two-year) and register your details. You can even pre-purchase for a future date (up to three months ahead). 2. In Person:

• National Park Visitor Centres: You can purchase passes at the visitor centres located within or near national parks. This is especially useful for "Icon Passes" for Cradle Mountain, which include the shuttle bus ticket and are often purchased at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre. We got our pass when we arrived to our first national park (Tasman National Park). It was easy and straightforward as there was a park ranger on site who sold it to us.

• "Pay and Display" Machines: Some national park sites now have "pay and display" machines that allow you to purchase passes and camping fees, offering greater convenience
