Nidaros Cathedral is a cathedral located in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It was built over a 230-year period, from 1070 to 1300, and since then has undergone periods of restoration and reconstruction. The architectural style of the cathedral is Romanesque and Gothic, and it has served as the cathedral for the Church of Norway bishops of Trondheim for many centuries. Visitors to Nidaros Cathedral can explore the historic church, including its beautiful octagon central aisle and chancel with a silver crucifix commissioned by Norwegian American emigrants, as well as experience its unique cultural events like Olav's Wake in memory of patron saint Olav II.
