Gamle Aurlandsvegen is an 18-kilometer mountain road in Aurland, Norway that connects Aurlandsvangen and Lærdal. With stunning views of the Aurlandsfjord (an arm of the main Sognefjord), star-filled nights and a sparse population (only eight people live along its route), it's billed as 'the world's longest and most beautiful car-free zone'! Motorists can take in Norwegian culture and landscapes at their own pace and stopping to explore old rural farms and castles. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and cycling throughout the year. In the winter, snow blankets the mountain peaks, creating a truly picturesque winter wonderland.
