Høyjord Stave Church is a unique and fascinating building located in Sandefjord, Norway. Built at the end of the 11th century, it features both Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. It contains twelve staves, each with its own distinct design, along with a central pillar, which was likely added during 1690's restoration. In 1948-53, the church underwent a major restoration that revealed numerous medieval artifacts beneath the chancel floor, including 5 skeletons, a consecration cross, and 8-10 consecration wall crosses. Today, Høyjord remains an important cultural symbol in Norway and an intriguing tourist attraction.
