Be Prepared for Unpredictable Weather in Mount Aspiring National Park.

Mount Aspiring National Park is one of the most stunning places in New Zealand, but the weather here can be wild and change in an instant—especially in the alpine areas. Even if the forecast looks good, always pack for all conditions. Bring a waterproof jacket, warm layers, and a beanie, even in summer. Strong winds, sudden rain, and even snow (yes, even in warmer months at higher elevations!) can hit unexpectedly.

If you're heading on hikes like the Brewster Hut Track or Liverpool Hut, be aware that river crossings can become impassable after heavy rain. Always check with the Department of Conservation (DOC) for track conditions before setting off. For lower-altitude walks like the Blue Pools Track or Rob Roy Glacier Track, the conditions are more manageable, but a sudden downpour can still turn a dry trail into a muddy one. There are points along the Rob Roy Glacier Track that are pretty sketchy, so if it's wet, please be careful.
