At the Lower South Desert Overlook, visitors are treated to an incredible panoramic view of Capitol Reef National Park. From this stunning look-out point, the desert landscape stretches out for miles in all directions. The short hike (0.5 miles round-trip) to the peak rewards visitors with a memorable view of the red cliffs and striking sandstone formations in the area. Outdoor enthusiasts may want to continue their adventure by hiking past Jailhouse Rock to Temple Rock (4.5 miles out-and-back).
