Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument is an incredible monument in Utah featuring a 200-square-foot rock adorned with one of the largest collections of petroglyphs in the Southwest. This amazing sight has been carved by numerous cultures over the last two thousand years, creating a visually stunning artwork that tells many stories and provides insight into our region's ancient history. The petroglyphs feature human, animal, material and abstract forms, not to mention depictions of polydactyly (an extra toe or finger). Native Americans would often use the site as a place for communication – making it a must see when visiting the area.
