Just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Québec City, Massif du Sud Regional Park is a must for outdoor enthusiasts in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Entrance fees are around $9.25 per adult, and children 17 and under get in for free.
Here are three hikes you won’t want to miss:
🏔️ Mont Chocolat (8 km, intermediate) – The park’s most popular trail, leading to incredible panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
🌄 Crête des Grives (10.6 km, difficult) – A more challenging option with a rewarding, breathtaking lookout at the top.
👨👩👧 Abris-sous-Roche (3.8 km, easy) – Ideal for young families, this trail showcases the park’s natural beauty in a short and accessible format.
✨ Highlights: majestic maple forests, sweeping ridge viewpoints, clear rivers, and the unique mountain atmosphere south of the St. Lawrence.
🍂 Best time to visit: Fall colors arrive a little earlier than elsewhere, usually between mid to late September, when the park turns into a stunning natural canvas.
