Great visibility for snorkeling & diving
Peak season: July–August (more crowds & higher prices)
🌦️ Rainy Season (November – March)
Short, tropical showers (often in the afternoon)
Lush landscapes, fewer tourists, lower prices
Still good for travel, especially Java cities & culture
January–February = wettest months
🌿 Shoulder Months (April & October)
⭐ Best balance of good weather, fewer crowds & better prices
Perfect if you want a relaxed, family-friendly experience.
✨ Our experience
Indonesia is warm year-round (25–32°C / 77–90°F), so timing is more about rain & crowds, not temperature.
We were there at the end of March and April. The weather was very mixed, especially in March. A typhoon raged and it rained almost every day. Some of the roads in Lombok were completely flooded, which made it difficult to get around on a scooter (landslides).
But despite the heavy rain, it cleared up every now and then and we were able to use the time to go to the beach.
April was much more relaxed with little rain and fewer tourists than in the high season.
Overall, it can be said that the weather is unpredictable. Be sure to pack a rain jacket (find out more in our packing guide). Good luck!
