Port Willunga Beach is easily one of our favourite spots in Australia.

Facing northwest, it’s often sheltered from the southerly winds thanks to the tall cliffs lining the coast. That means the water is usually calm—perfect for a swim or just relaxing on the sand.

We lived nearby for a while and really got to know this stretch of coastline. No matter how many times we visited, the old fisherman’s caves carved into the cliffs and the remains of the wooden jetty always felt special—especially at sunset when photographers gather to catch that golden light.

If you go, make time to snorkel the Star of Greece shipwreck just offshore, and definitely grab a drink or a meal at the Star of Greece restaurant perched on the cliff. The view over the water in the late afternoon is hard to beat.
