About: Eilean Donan Castle is a picturesque fortress located on a small tidal island in the western Highlands of Scotland. Originally built in the 13th century, it served as a stronghold for the Clan Mackenzie and Clan MacRae. After being destroyed in 1719 due to clan involvement in Jacobite rebellions, the castle was reconstructed in the 20th century.
