Eden Garden Society is a non-profit charity, not part of the Council or privately owned. All donations to the garden and café go directly back into maintaining and running Eden Garden. 🌱💚

Nestled on the eastern slopes of Mt. Eden, Eden Garden is a peaceful, 5.5-acre sanctuary just minutes from downtown Auckland. It’s a beautiful place to relax and explore, with a lovely café offering high tea! 🍰☕️

In 1964, a visionary horticulturist, Jack Clark, along with 15 fellow garden lovers, took on the big task of turning an old, rubbish-filled quarry into the stunning garden it is today. The site, which was once a stone quarry for Auckland’s early development, was donated to the Eden Garden Society, who worked tirelessly to clear debris, bring in soil, and transform it into the beautiful space we enjoy now. 🌿🌸

Eden Garden offers a peaceful escape from the city, with various paths to wander, flowers and trees to admire, and scenic lookouts with views over Auckland. 🏞️ The central area is flat and accessible, making it easy for everyone to visit. There's even a small waterfall!

'What an experience! We went for afternoon tea which was lovely, but the environment of these beautiful gardens are an experience you need in your week. If you need a little time out from life or you are visiting Auckland then add this to your list. I’m a local literally around the corner and cannot believe I hadn’t previously been to these gardens. I always meant to visit but maybe I had subconsciously put it off because it’s a memorial garden. Instead of a heavy feeling I found that there was a peaceful vibe and really restorative. I’m actually going to buy a membership because this place is a little oasis with an amazing garden that reminded me of my childhood and the cafe makes the nicest cinnamon buns (also a childhood memory). Great quiet place to sit, sketch and breathe'
