This museum is based in Matakohe, Northland, and is a treasure trove of stories about the mighty kauri tree and the people who have shaped the region. From Māori traditions to European pioneers, gum diggers to farmers, this museum celebrates the rich history of northern New Zealand/Aotearoa. With fascinating exhibits, guided tours, and even EV charging points, it's a must-visit for anyone curious about the remarkable kauri tree and the community around it.

OPEN HOURS:​

The Kauri Museum is open daily from 9am to 5pm, every day of the year except Christmas Day. The Gumdigger's Cafe is open everyday from 10am-3pm. You are more than welcome to visit the Cafe and then return to the Museum.

​ADMISSION:

  • Adult $25

  • Child (5-15 years) $8

  • Under 5 years FREE

  • Family Pass $55 (2 Adults 2 Children)

  • Senior/Student $21

  • Group discounts are available for groups of 8 or more: Adults/Seniors/Students at $17.50 each, and children at $6 each.
