Step behind the curtain and into the world of traditional Japanese drama at the Uchiko-za. Built in 1916, this authentic Kabuki theater lets you explore the fascinating mechanics of the stage, from the revolving platform to the hidden trapdoors. You can walk the actors' path onto the stage, discover the secrets of the backstage dressing rooms, and soak in the atmosphere from the traditional box seats. It’s a wonderful chance to feel the history of a place that has been the heart of local entertainment for over a century. Please note that while the main theater is undergoing long-term renovations as of 2025, the historic dressing rooms remain open for you to tour and there's a temporary museum you can visit to learn more about the building and its history.
