Eden Grove is a beautiful pocket of old-growth forest with a well-maintained trail that makes exploring easy. Towering trees, lush undergrowth, and soft, filtered light make it an excellent spot for photography or simply taking in the quiet beauty of the place.

Just about a kilometre past Eden Grove following the Edinburgh Main logging road, there’s another stretch of untouched old-growth forest that has, so far, escaped the axe. This is one of my favourite places to photograph, thanks to the fallen trees that create unique and dynamic compositions. There are no trails, so getting around can be tricky, but the effort is worth it. A small creek runs through the area and meets the logging road, where you’ll find a pullout for parking. The creek is lined with beautiful western red cedars, and if you wander further into the woods, there’s even a tiny waterfall worth checking out.

Photographing this spot can be challenging—the dense forest has a lot going on—but I’ve spent countless hours here, slowly working through the chaos to capture images I genuinely love. If you visit, please be mindful of the delicate undergrowth and take steps to minimize the impact on this special place.
