Búrfellsgjá Lava Channel is one of the most beautiful trails in the Reykjavik area, if you ask me, and one not many tourists know or care about (luckily for us connaisseurs!). It was formed in a single volcanic eruption just over eight thousand years ago and is a stunning three kilometer long lava channel. Trekking through this trail is suitable for everyone, young and old alike, as the paths are stony in some areas and the slopes of Mt. Búrfell have gravel slopes.
